Your Questions, Answered
Quick answers to common questions about the claim process.
Contact your insurer using the number on your policy document and inform your Distroo Advisor. Keep your policy number, incident details and contact information ready. Your Advisor will explain the next steps and the documents needed.
It depends on the insurer, the type of claim and whether all documents are complete. IRDAI's 2024 health insurance master circular expects insurers to decide on a cashless request within one hour and on final discharge authorisation within three hours. Other claims follow the timelines set by IRDAI and your insurer.
Yes. Distroo Advisors help you understand the process, check that documents are complete, follow up with the insurer or TPA and keep you updated. Claim decisions are made by the insurer.
Ask the insurer for the reason in writing. Your Advisor can help you read the policy wording, prepare a response with supporting documents and approach the insurer's grievance team. Other options include IRDAI's Bima Bharosa portal and the Insurance Ombudsman. No outcome can be guaranteed.
No. Distroo does not charge customers for guiding them through a claim.
